This Catalan designer from Manresa studied Fashion
Design at the University of Southampton (United Kingdom) and went on to specialise in "Knitwear Design and Techniques" in Igualada.

MIRIAM PONSA is a signature clothing collection guided by the designer's own instinct rather than following latest trends. Her sources of inspiration are closely connected with textures and she uses many different techniques, some manual and others inherited from ancient crafts. This passion led her to research materials such as latex, which she normally works with in all her collections and allows her to merge with the fabric, giving it texture and capturing the subtlety of the moment.
MIRIAM PONSA evokes an industrial spirit that pervades the old space she has refurbished to house her studio. She comes from a family with a longstanding textile tradition dating back to the early 19th century and that has been passed down from generation to generation up to the present day. The craft process defines the hand-worked part of the collection and requires techniques rarely used these days, such as hand
embroidery, tapestry, basketwork and manual dyeing, all applied to items of
clothing.  She is even more interested in the actual process these garments undergo than in the end result, as it is during the process that new creative paths are opened.

The MIRIAM PONSA collection was awarded the
"Barcelona és Moda" prize by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce in
2007 for the most promising new company. She also won the 080 Barcelona
Fashion prize in 2010 for the best Autumn-Winter 2010-2011 collection, awarded by the Government of Catalonia's Department of Trade and Tourism.
